The Rainforest Alliance Fifteenth Annual Gala, celebrating sustainable agriculture, forestry and tourism, took place on Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City.
Individuals and corporations that have made a significant contribution to environmental conservation and sustainability were awarded the Rainforest Alliance's prestigious Sustainable Standard-Setter and Green Globe Awards. This annual fundraiser and awards banquet brought together environmentalists, progressive companies, celebrities and leaders in the business and diplomatic communities.

This year, before the Gala took place, representatives of a number of Rainforest Alliance-certified companies attended a workshop entitled "How to Market Sustainability and Certification." David Refkin, the director of sustainable development at Time, Inc., hosted this Rainforest Alliance conference at Time's offices in Manhattan.
Keynote speaker Tony Pigott, president and CEO of J Walter Thompson, Global Director of Social Marketing along with Julie Barrett O'Brien, co-founder of North Bridge Strategies and former director of Dunkin' Donuts' $1.2 billion coffee and beverage categories, answered questions and provided advice and input on sustainability marketing efforts.
